The firm is headed up by Rob Wooding who is a registered professional photogrammetric surveyor. He has been in private practice running his own companies since 1974. Building on the core skills of Surveying, Information Technology and Engineering, he has produced mapping, software and geographical information for the engineering, mining, telecommunication and agricultural industries for some forty years. His guiding principle is "to apply leading edge technology in an economic manner suited to a practical African context."
Over the years extensive management experience has been acquired. Served in local government at town board level for eleven years, most of which was in the capacity of chairman of either the board or the finance and works committees. Served the Institute of Topographical and Engineering Surveyors in various capacities for seventeen years. Of these, six years as Natal Branch chairman and four years as national President. A nominated Institute representative on the Professional Land and Technical Surveyors Council from its creation in 1984 until 2014. Presidents award in 1995.
Numerous local and international professional conferences attended. Served on various educational, accreditation, and curriculum committees and a private school Board of Governors. Pilots licenses for both aircraft and helicopters. Outside of his work commitments, these days he concentrates on conservation and protection of some of the smaller, forgotten endangered wildlife species.
